About Ariana Film Company

A film to inspire….

Maya Treganza a young film maker from Falmouth embarked on a pilgrimage from the chain locker in Falmouth to Canterbury Cathedral on the 5th January 2026 with a grroup of sailors from several countries who had arrived on the Ariana,
a 55 foot classic sailboat, sailed from Mumbai, India, to Pendennis Marina,,Falmouth and arrived at Canterbury Cathedral on Easter Sunday 5th April 2026.

I had the pleasure of meeting her and the crew at Canterbury Cathedral as I was there to light candles for friends and family and decided to create the great english way route and film in their honour after listening to their stories
of hardship, suffering and hope.

In this film I will be interviewing people along the way, about what it means for them to be english, what the landscape means to them, why we have lost our faith, and how they see england in the future… I will be accompanied by
my labrador, Hari ( a seasoned pilgim) who will be travelling in a custom made sanctuary as he injured his paw on a poorly disgarded glass in February and can;’t walk too far at the moment….

If you see us along the way, say Hi! and tell us a story of your England… You’ll spot us by the great english way flag and the pup stroller!

Stops along the way

From the naval heritage of Henry VIII’s castle at Pendennis, Falmouth, to the spiritual home of the English church at Canterbury Cathedral, we cross places of great cultural and historical significance ….including Honiton, where
Queen Victoria’s wedding dress was made, Clarendon, where Henry II and Becket first fought oveer the separation of church and state, and Bridport, home of the bridport dagger, the infamous rope used to hang criminals and enemies
of the state… together we will uncover the England people have forgotten, the voices and faces of the people who shaped this nation, and the modern inhabitants who  owe their freedom to those ghosts of the past …
